My Students

Our is a public middle school in South Florida serving about 900 students in grades 6-8 with an approximate 30% ESOL population. 87% of the student population classifies the school as a “High Minority School”. Approximately 94% of the students at our school are on Free/Reduced-Priced Lunch which the Florida Department of Education classifies as a “High Poverty School,” therefore qualifying the school to participate in the Title 1 initiative offered by the federal government.

Our school is an IB (International Baccalaureate) school that promotes making connections between the real world and what's being taught in the classrooms.

For five consecutive school years our school has met the satisfactory standards set by the state of Florida.

My Project

Our school's Environmental Club had its humble beginnings just three short years ago. In that time, our club has gone above and beyond to promote environmental awareness among the student body and staff. We've posted "Reduce, Reuse, Recycle" signs around campus. We've led beautification projects like neighborhood clean ups and planting flowers in front of the school. We've even started our own school garden. Each year we try to find bigger and better ways to give back to the environment.

This year, we need recycling bins to start a recycling program at our school.

Our goal is to have a recycling bin in every classroom and office! the amount of paper that gets tossed into the garbage can at our school is absurd. You can see them in the trash cans, hallways floors, and in the dumpsters out back. unknowingly, our teachers, staff, and students are overflowing our local landfills year after year. Trees are being cut down at an alarm rate and our club feels like we need to make a difference right now. These recycle bins will be our first step in helping everyone at our school be responsible global citizens.
