Recreating History

Help me give my students art supplies to build early American history dioramas depicting events and the growing economy.

My Project

I would love to allow my seventh-grade students to create Revolutionary War dioramas to showcase their creativity and love of wars and battles and early historical events such as Jamestown, The Boston Tea Party, Salem Witch Trials, and Roanoke. They learn about the economy of early individuals and settlement patterns that led to trade and survival. Students can show how taxes and natural resources led to a stable financial economy for the future. It is very insightful to see history through the eyes of a student. Giving them supplies like clay and plastic figures to do this will spark creativity and interest in history. These projects will be displayed at our History Fair night and shared with families, friends, and community members. It is a way to share what we do with our community!

Learning history is fun, but explaining history through imagination and creativity is memorable for a student.

Creating scenes and teaching their classmates about them not only allows other students to have a more profound learning experience but it allows the creator to learn with a lasting impact. They can describe the event and its economic effect. The projects will also be displayed for parents and other students at our parent night, giving the community a glimpse of the students' historical learning.
