My Students

My school is Title I. Over 90 percent of our student population are receiving free or reduced-price lunch.

They come from a modest or low-income family and are limited in their life experiences.

Many of my students have challenging situations at home with their personal lives and have emotional challenges.

My students are very curious and energetic first graders.

Even though the students bring lots of needs to the classroom, they are eager to learn as much as possible in all areas. They seek out activities that are authentic and enriching. My students are happy to come to school every day looking to explore their world.

My Project

In our neighborhood, many of the students's lives were affected by Hurricane Irma. Many students come to school looking forward to exercising and playing sports since many of my students can not afford to participate in private sports club. Unfortunately, our students missed weeks of playing sports due to Hurricane Irma. I can see emotional and physical effects on the students.

Many students have limited resources at home and using technology to access the workout applications can strengthen their bodies and distract from worries at home after Hurricane Irma.

I would like iPads to use a wide range of workout websites, and apps that will motivate my students in exercising. For example, students can use a video for instructions on how to jump rope and access built-in workouts for their exercise. Students will also be able to use the iPads to keep track of their fitness progress and research the nutrition they need. Help my students succeed by providing technology and an interactive fitness experience.
