This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach in the same high school where I was a student myself a decade ago. I know from first-hand experience the struggles many of my students face. Our community is beautiful because of its diversity, however, a huge challenge is the poverty that is also present.

I can sincerely say I admire every single one of my students because, despite the personal challenges many of them have at home, they know that in my classroom they are safe.

I promise my students that although I may not be able to solve all their issues, I can provide them with a classroom that is a caring and a learning environment for them.

My Project

Every year approximately 90 students in our school take the challenge of enrolling in AP Spanish Language and Culture course. This course is taught a college level and it requires students to write, read, and speak at a high academic level in order to better prepare for the AP exam in May of every year. Throughout the school year, our class heads to the small computer lab located in the lab. Students practice their speaking portion of the exam by recording formal and informal conversations.

However, when we do the recording practices, not all students are able to participate at once because we do not have enough working headsets.

The headsets that we currently have are from the 90's and it's not a complete class set. If AP Spanish Language classes have access to working headsets, it will help tremendously our students better prepare for their AP Spanish Language exam with the hopes of earning college credit.
