Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Positive recognition for student achievement is proven to encourage academic growth and boost self-esteem. When we recognize effort and progress, even if the student is not where they need to be, we are showing them we notice how hard they are working. Seeing students progress can promote the confidence necessary to succeed.

I want to begin a new recognition program at my school site to acknowledge the efforts and progress in the areas of reading and math.

Recognizing them with star pins when they show growth in these areas, not just proficiency. This recognition can lead to several positive moral boosters. Students not only feel seen, they are building confidence, feeling successful, building student-teacher relationships, and creating a sense of community.
