Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

"You see things and say 'Why'? But I see things and say 'Why not?" G.B Shaw I believe in enhancing children's language, cognitive, and early reading skills by giving them unlimited resources that will assist in that development in and out of the classroom.

My class is a mixture of White, Black and Hispanic students.

I have a total of 19 students. My students are eager to learn new things such as letter and sound recognition, vocabulary and sense of story. They are very helpful towards each other when new activities or skills are introduced. My students attend an inner-city school in South Florida in which the majority of them are from single family homes and the median income is at or above the poverty level.

My Project

I have requested a See, Hear and Learn Phonics Machine in order for my English Language Learning students to interactively identify letters and sound and escalate to spelling words as they engage during center time. The Phonemic Awareness Activity kit and the Ladybug Letters will enable my students to use pictures as a hand on activity to match rhyming words, beginning and ending sounds, and vowel sounds. The individual Upper and Lowercase letters will give my students alphabet and word building practice. The Bingo games (picture word, beginning sound, rhyming words, and alphabet) will help my students’ master phonemic skills as a group while building vocabulary. The pocket literacy charts will help my students build vocabulary as they vocalize and independently select literacy and other phonemic building areas to work in.

By supporting this project my students will be able to get a refining foundation while using hands on materials as letter and sound recognition is developed along with other literacy skills.

Project Recognize, Sound, Read, and Grow will give first year students the opportunity that will help establish life long achievement that will impact their lives as they desire to become educators, entrepreneurs, doctors, electricians, lawyers, plumbers etc.
