My Project

My students have limited access to recess activities due to the recess yard being only black top. Many of my students are also unable to safely play outside in their community or neighborhood after school. ALL students deserve a safe place to play, but in order to that they need access to equipment.

My hope and goal for this project is to help promote and provide access to various recess activities that encourage constructive play and teamwork within the recess yard.

This will also help alleviate and diminish issues spilling from recess into the classroom creating a safer and even more welcoming learning environment.

This order consists of various sports equipment and games. I plan to use these materials to help the young learners expel their pent up energy during recess so that when they come back into the classroom they are ready to learn. As well as to create a safe and positive play environment for those students. The mini lacrosse equipment will help students not only play a game of catch with their friends, but also introduce them to a team sport they may be unfamiliar with.

The nerf soccer ball, football, and basketball will encourage students to make friends and play with one another. The skip its and jump ropes will encourage students who may want to engage in individual play a safe activity that they can do by themselves and get their energy out. The laundry baskets will be used to store the equipment in a safe and organized space so equipment does not get lost or misplaced.
