Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our school is dedicated to preparing our students to be successful socially, emotionally, and academically both now and in the future. We believe that through our commitment to learning, collaboration with families and the community, and collaboration amongst educators that we are preparing our students to become the next generation of leaders.

As a special education teacher, I strive to help my students become active learners within their classroom community.

I want them to succeed alongside their peers and become independent thinkers. I work alongside teachers in different grade levels. By working together we create an environment where every student can reach his or her potential.

My Project

During the 2017-2018 school year, our school began to organize recess zones to give students activities to participate in during their designated recess time. For the upcoming school year we want to be able to build on what we started last school year. We have two playground areas, and only one tot lot area for the younger students to play on. With over 700 students, we need equipment for the students to be able to participate in organized activities and implement the next phase of our recess zones.

By donating to this project, you will help us create a positive recess environment that promotes teamwork and exercise through organized recess activities.

The next recess zone we want to have is a team sports zone. We want students to be able to play wiffle ball or flag football. For our younger students, we want them to also be able to create drawings with chalk. The other equipment, such as the Frisbee rings and egg and spoon relay will help us add new games to the relay zone. Finally, the foam hands will be used in our tag zone to allow student to safely tag one another. By keeping students engaged in these activities we hope to create a positive climate during our recess schedule.
