My Students

My school is located in south Los Angeles, we are a Title I campus, and most of students are on free lunch. We have a high percentage of English Language learners within each classroom.

I am moving grade levels again!

I am headed back to Transitional Kindergarten (TK). It's a lot of work to move, but I am so excited to be with the little guys and back with my awesome kindergarten team!

Returning to the kindergarten yard means I need to fix it up! Outside play is so important for 4-6 year olds; I want them to have lots of variety in their outdoor play space.

My Project

This project will revitalize our recess spaces! We are adding more sand to the sandbox and repairing the broken bikes, but we need your help with the rest! The materials I have chosen will all be used daily on the kindergarten playground. That means supporting this project will support not only my students in TK, but the 100+ kinder kiddos as well!

These materials will promote safe and creative play on the yard.

Students will be able to have options to build with the table top legos and magnets, allowing them to freely explore their engineering skills. Student will be able to work on their balance and team work when we add the stepping stones/buckets into the obstacle course area. The basketball hoop is aways an exciting play ground feature that we need to replace.

Mainly, I want students to have the opportunity play beyond the apparatus and sandbox. Outdoor play is fun, but without proper engagement, students sometimes make unsafe choices. Our students will benefit greatly from table top toys, the basketball hoop, and the rocker because the will have more options and ways in which to play.
