Rebuilding Special Needs Classroom Teaching and Sensory Supplies

My Project

I changed job duties and districts a year and a half ago. I left behind most of my personally owned and personally created teaching and sensory supplies as I thought I'd no longer need them. Now I have the wonderful opportunity to return to teaching some of our highest needs special population students, and am trying to rebuild our base teaching and sensory supplies from the tested items that I know work.

My students this year are both in the school classroom and homebound learning settings (due to being medically fragile), so we will need a variety of supplies for their varying needs and disabilities.

We are restocking our classroom with tools to help our students grow and be included in as much of regular campus life as possible. Our aim is to expand beyond the title of Functional Living to include as much academic and vocational integration as possible - much of which can be done through exploring uniquely designed experiences through play and modeling real world situations and scenarios as closely as possible via the selected instructional tools and lessons.

We want to help to the maximum extent possible with our campus coffee cart, vocational/life skills tasks, and school dance/social/carnival event that our department sponsors every year.
