This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

As an English/Language Arts teacher, having books in my classroom available for my students to read is paramount! In order to become better readers, students must read! In order to develop and sustain good reading habits, students must have access to books they want to read.

I plan on using these books for student choice reading and read alouds.

Books are the number one school supply I need; so these books will be the backbone of my classroom! I will have them accessible for students to read every day, I will do book talks so students will be interested. In order to have a classroom of readers, I need good books!

I am returning to the classroom after 7 years of teaching pre-service teachers at the college level. The books left behind in my new classroom are all very dated and need to be replaced. Your contribution would go a long way towards making my classroom a haven for readers!
