Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

These kiddos have been through a lot! My fourth grade students have had a string of substitute teachers for the last three months before I came in a couple of weeks ago as their permanent teacher.

They feel abandoned and rejected by the teachers that have been in and out of their lives.

These students have good hearts, but are very guarded and resistant to learning.

Help us build a community where students are kind to one another, and can let go and put their trust in me. I am hoping that by creating a safe place for students to express themselves, they will understand their value in our class and will begin to invest in their education.

My Project

Help bring my students together to create a classroom community where everyone can learn. We need a space that is inviting and will bring the kids together for team building activities, class meetings, lessons, and more!

A rug with a spot for each child and an easel for charting and organizing ideas will help my students take an active role in their learning.

My style of teaching is very community-based and relies on students actively participating in their education. I want them to understand that they can add a lot to a lesson just by making their voice heard.

My students have been through a lot over the past three months. Substitute teachers have quit on them, told them how terrible they are, and made them feel like they are not worth the effort. They are very guarded and need to learn how to be a part of a community where they can depend on one another and their teacher. Please let me show these kids that they matter. They are worth it. They will learn. I have faith in them and I want them to see it.
