Help me give my students the necessary tools to perform experiments using quality microscopes. Students will be able to learn about cell structure, function, osmosis, diffusion among other fascinating topics but they need to observe real cells.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

A chain reaction of support starts with one share.
My students are very special because they are children who are trying to overcome the barriers of language and culture. English is their second language, most belong to a low-economic level, among other difficulties. They have an immense desire to achieve their goals of graduating from a NYC high school regardless of the challenges they face. One important detail of my students is that they are in the process of adaptation to a totally different educational system that requires to pass Standardized Exams.
"We can beat the odds and achieve success under these circumstances"
We are part of a small community that believes in bilingualism and multiculturalism. I teach five classes per day, two are general education(science), one is bilingual(science) and two are Science ICT (Integrated Co-Teaching). ICT provides access to the general education curriculum and specially designed instruction to meet students' individual needs. All students need to receive excellent educational opportunities.
My Project
Students will be able to observe and analyze the process of diffusion through the cell membrane. First, students need to prepare a microscope wet mount slide of red onion cell in distilled water. Then they need to take another piece of red onion skin and made a second slide using saltwater.
Students need to use a good quality microscope to make observations.
Observing the diffusion process in real cells is difficult because they are too small to be seen easily. To understand how osmosis(water diffusion)occurs students need to perform a variety of experiments.
Students will enjoy this activity because they will learn about microscopy, cells, and diffusion but also will be able to apply the content to real life situations.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
