Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are spirited third graders. They want to be successful and are hard workers. They come to school ready to learn no matter what is happening in their lives. My students benefit from reading about characters who are experiencing difficulties similar to their own.

Our school is a Title I school and all of our students receive a free breakfast and lunch every day.

Our school is in a high poverty neighborhood but I know the parents want their children to be successful. The materials I am seeking will help them realize success.

My Project

The texts I am requesting will be used to help my students realize that there are skills they may not be able to grasp at the beginning of the school year but with continued practice and persistence they will succeed. I want my students to know they can do even the difficult tasks well.

Some students feel that they can't learn and I want them to understand that everyone, no matter how old, can learn through persistence.

I want to move my students from a "fixed mindset" to a "growth mindset." This mindset change will benefit them throughout their lives.
