Help me give my students a connection between math and language arts showing them how the math skills they are learning are relevant and useful in real life.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I teach at a title 1 school where many of my students come from low income backgrounds. Often, many of these students do not have opportunities to travel outside of their neighborhood. Therefore, they do not see the connections of many of the math concepts we learn in class to real life applications. By giving my students a subscription to Scholastic Math, they will not only be connecting math and language arts but they also will be seeing how the skills we learn in class are applied in real life situations.
