I teach an inquisitive, motivated group of advanced fourth graders who learn by questioning and creating. They are a joyful group, eager to discover new things each day. Together, we create a community filled with choice and empowered learners.
Design and innovation are integrated into all we do and my goal is to provide exciting and engaging, hands-on experiences so that learning comes to life.
Ours is a collaborative classroom where students work together to make sense of the world around them. Through exploration and problem solving, students are better able to understand and make a difference in the world they live in. Learning in our class is an adventure!
My Project
Like many kids around the world, my students have spent the past year learning online. They have come to school each and every day ready to learn and have given there all to make each day the best it can be. My students are change makers. They look for ways to help one another and those around them. As our world looks to move forward, I want my students to know that their actions both big and small can make this world a better place.
By reading about real kids and their real stories, my students will learn how others, just like them, have changed the world and be inspired to do the same.
After reading the stories of what other kids have done to make the world a better place, students will identify a need they see in the world. It may be something at home. It may be something needed in their neighborhood. It may be something they want to do to help on a more global scale. After determining a need, students will design a plan to address the need. It may be writing letters. It may be creating a PSA (public service announcement). It may be organizing a group of people. Students will prepare digital scrapbooks of each step of their project to share with others.
I want my students to see and experience the difference we all can make.
