Real Frogs, Real Tools, Real Learning!

My students need science tools that will enrich our science learning and exploration. We need real specimens like insects, animal hair, fossils, and frogs to make learning more authentic and engaging. We also need microscopes!

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are very bright dual language students in the 3rd grade! They strive to work hard every day in both English and Spanish instruction and come from very diverse cultural backgrounds. Having been together since Kindergarten, they are a close-knit group of kids who are eager and excited to tackle the third grade and continue their learning in both languages.

Everyday, my students are working hard to be more and more independent in their dual language classroom, but they need more resources.

I've watched them grow into such great independent young learners during the past couple of months. They need to be supported with more opportunities to be independent in an organized classroom.

My Project

Science class will never look the same with these items at our fingertips! With your help, I am hoping to give our room the proper science center it deserves and introduce a maker-space. Our students are craving exploration and need to use their senses to make sense of complex concepts like the life cycles of plants and animals and ecosystems! They need to observe specimens through a microscope like real scientists do. They need a space where they challenge themselves to create new ideas and think like an engineer.

I've chosen hands-on tools like fossils, microscopes, and real frogs (yes, real frogs!) housed in an acrylic block to make science learning the best it can be this year.

These items will benefit my students because science needs to be more interactive and enriched through real tools and experiences for young students! My visual learners and hands-on learners can finally get more out of out science classes through exploration. Help me bring these experiences to my students so that they can be the best third grade scientists they can be.
