This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students have an abundance of wealth in charisma, eagerness to learn English, motivation, and an overflowing knowledge of their culture. Their charismatic spark is undeniable, the saying, "Everyone Smiles in the Same Language" couldn't be more true. Truly, terrific kids!

My Project

My students love practicing and improving their reading skills in English! Nothing is better than have a paper book in your hands that you can treasure and keep forever. The pandemic has made books scarce. Due to the pandemic, "real books" have been something they haven't had an opportunity to enjoy at home. During in-person learning, they use school textbooks that they are unable to borrow and take home, for safety reasons. While learning remotely, they rely exclusively on digital books (which are great but make it difficult for them to navigate between the book and a worksheet to answer questions and lack of quality wifi is always a concern). This digital age is fabulous, but my language learners have earned the right to experience of submersing into tangible reading material like paper books. . There are lots of digital-resources to use, but having a classic to carry around or a good level reader would be ideal.
