Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My classroom is full of energetic, dual language, third and fourth grade students who enjoy learning in two languages.

They live in a high poverty area in the Bronx. My students receive instruction in both English and Spanish on a daily basis. My students love to learn and they are excited to write daily with support, so they can become successful independent writers.

Many of my students don't have the opportunity to read or write online.

My students are bilingual learners who love to read and share their learning. Many depend on an iPad or computer to read books or write digitally which often doesn't work due to lack of internet service at home. Despite the hardships they are facing with school teaching remotely or blended, they are eager learners.

My Project

This project will support and strengthen my students writing skills. It will focused on practicing the 3 different writing styles! narrative, informative/explanatory and opinion/argument writing. This will be perfect for independent use, small groups and writing centers!

The students will be able to improve their writing by getting ideas and guidance on creating their own stories for narrative writing , their own informational books and their own opinion or arguments writing.

Completing these writing activities and following the writing process from the pre-writing process and gathering ideas into paragraphs, will give my students more confidence in their writing skills.

Giving my students the opportunity to improve their writing skills, with these writing prompts, will help them on becoming successful writers.
