This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

The road to reading successfully does not have to be rocky. Reading is such a neccessity for all students, and especially my bilingual studnets who have to learn all the different sounds, phonemes and nuances to the English language. In order to guide and provide them with the literacy foundations they need, I would like to provide my bilingual students with fun phonics and literacy activites that they can use in independent learning centers, and with me in small guided groups, such as a set of Bob books and phonics tiles, I’m asking for new and exciting resources to help make our literacy centers more engaging.

These centers will help my students practice the academic skills we are learning while also having fun.

The students will use these materials daily during small group rotations and their independent work. The majority of these materials will be used for phonemic awareness. Some materials will help them practice beginning sounds, like the building words, reading sight words and beginning reading books, as well as help them practice CVC words.
