My Students

"There needs to be a lot more emphasis on what a child can do instead of what they cannot do" - Dr. Temple Grandin . For this project I would love to start to give my students the tools they need to grow and develop in and outside the classroom.

I am a brand new teacher, working in a brand new classroom for students who have Autism and are on the alternate curriculum.

In my classroom I am trying to create a visually structured educational classroom for students who are in Kindergarten through Second grade.The students in my class are all English Language Learners. The students in my class are full of life and enjoy coming to school. My classroom is on an elementary campus, and we are the only Autism/ Alternate curriculum classroom.Some of my students may be non verbal, but they are still eager to learn in and outside of the classroom. I would describe our school as safe environment for our students.

My Project

The donations will improve my classroom in such a huge way because we are starting as a new class and do not have much this time our classroom library needs a little love we only have a few books at this time for the students to look at and be read to. The educational toys are needed to develop language, social skills, academic skills in the classroom for all the students to use daily. The educational manipulative will promote hands on learning for the students. These items will help my students grow academically, socially, and promote language in my classroom

The students will benefit from the donations tremendously in the classroom.

The use of the books will provide language, phonics, pre reading skills, and comprehension. The educational toys will help the students develop imaginary play, social skills, peer play, taking turns, and language. Students who are on the Autism spectrum learn more visually, and these donations will do that. Thank you.
