Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Many students enter first grade with a lot of handwriting concerns. These range from writing letters backwards to using capitals when lowercase letters should be used or not spacing words properly. Having dry erase boards with handwriting lines would help correct these errors early on.

My classroom consists of general education students, special needs students, and English language learners.

The majority of my students come from low-income families often having little or no help with schoolwork at home. It is essential that they reach all their educational goals at school.

My Project

These dry erase boards will be implemented into many different subjects throughout the school day. First, for handwriting practice. Later for interactive writing and phonics work. In addition, students can respond to literature during read aloud time.

Receiving these dry erase boards will help our students gain confidence in their writing.

Not only will they be used this year, but they can be used for years to come. Proper letter formation is a skill students need for every subject not just for first grade, but for every grade in the future.
