My Project

As a Reading Intervention teacher, my students often come to me feeling overwhelmed and discouraged by reading. In their classrooms reading materials they encounter include phonics sounds they haven't mastered yet so they think reading is "too hard". In my room they work hard to improve their skills and quickly start to feel successful as they read decodables that are on their level. However, they need more practice to develop their reading fluency. Older students are often embarrassed to grab a decodable that looks like it's made for a younger student. Many other decodable texts are black and white and boring so students are drawn to challenging books they do not yet have the skills to decode.

My students need high-interest decodable texts on their levels that are engaging to read and look at!

After receiving a few sets of these books with a previous project they results were astounding. The students become so excited because the books were engaging and on their levels. I need more of these books that can be read in the classroom or borrowed to practice reading at home. Help me grow my collection so that they can grow as readers!
