My Students

What better way to learn and practice reading than by bringing it to life and sharing it with peers? Readers' Theater plays allow students to do just that- make reading fun, exciting, and relevant!

My students live in a high poverty area in Southern California.

Our school is located in an urban community and also houses some students from the nearby homeless shelter. I have students at many reading levels which span from first through fifth grades. About 50% of the students at our school are English Language Learners, with little or no help or support available to them at home. But no matter what challenges they may face at home, my students come to school every day eager to learn. They bring great ideas, enthusiasm, and love of learning to the classroom each day and my goal is to fuel that even more with fun and exciting reading activities they can engage in.

My Project

My students need high interest, exciting Readers' Theater scripts such as Learning History, Genres of Literacy and Fluency and Comprehension that teach fluency, comprehension, content, and keep the love of reading alive. My students love new and exciting stories, especially ones that can come bring to life together. They need several sets of Readers' Theater books and scripts so that they may enter and actively participate in different worlds while strengthening their reading fluency, comprehension, and knowledge of content. What better way to create a lifetime love for reading?

You can make a difference in how children view reading for the rest of their lives.

These scripts will motivate them and create lasting memories about how fun reading really is. And the beauty of it is that these resources will be used year after year to impact more and more students.
