Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

This year I am teaching 4th grade in the neighborhood of Vickery Meadows.

I am so excited to sow into these eager growing minds.

English is a second language for most of my students. They work hard and want to be successful in and out of the classroom. They will benefit from any support a donation could offer.

My students live in a low-income area with 100% qualifying for free lunch.

Most of my students live well below poverty so their parents do not have the means to feed into their child(ren)'s education as much as the would like. Activities and resources are funded directly by the teachers and school.

English is a second language for 90% of my students; however, they are high achievers that never give up. The fight in them makes it easy to advocate for them to have the best.

Even though how we educate and how they learn has changed, we still are eager to teach and learn. I want to grow their love of reading.

My Project

The pandemic has caused some learning gaps for my students. These resources will help me create a better personalized learning environment. The Word Their Way sorts will allow me to meet my students where they are and help them reach their goals. I will create personalized learning stations where they will work individually or collaborate with peers. The iPad will be a listing station for my students that need embedded accommodations. It will also allow the the freedom to have flexible sitting and work anywhere in the classroom.

It is a goal of mine to help all of my students not only leave the school better than they arrive, but also reaching new goals and excelling in reading.
