My Project
I am looking to get some tricycles at my school to help students with cross-brain exercises to improve cognition and reading abilities. When using a tricycle students are accessing both sides of their brain to move the petals of the tricycle improving brain function, which can lead to students performing better in school.
Another reason to get tricycles is that they give students a structured activity to participate in at recess.
At my school students must practice patience while waiting for their turn. Students are learning to wait in line and to keep their hands to themselves. Students also practice the hokey pokey to stay active while waiting in line.
We currently have two smaller tricycles which are not currently accessible to taller students as their legs are too long to comfortably operate the tricycles. With these new bigger tricycles the taller students in Kindergarten through second grade will be able to use them as well.
I am also asking for a tricycle with two seats so that students will have the option to bring a passenger as a bonding experience with other students.
