Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

This year I am teaching 32 eager students who have a passion for learning. I am always surprised to see how much knowledge the students bring to each subject. This year, I will focus more on reciprocal learning strategies which will help the students gain more control over their learning. By developing groups and questioning techniques for the students to follow, they will be able to lead their own discussions and make their own discoveries in every subject. I am always confident in my students' abilities to take their learning to a higher level of independence.

Every fifth grader brings with them a special quality to enhance the class as well as themselves.

It's up to the teachers to develop these qualities to show the students their potential. Hopefully, I can help these wonderful students to tap into their vast knowledge base and enlighten us all by sharing something knowledgeable, skillful artistry, a loved hobby or simply a curious notion. Whatever the year may bring, it will be a fantastic one, I'm sure.

My Project

My students are a community of learners who look forward to writing and displaying their work for the entire school community. Students research different topics and write about them using a learned writing technique. Over a period of time, they begin to master the strategy and write proficiently on a variety of topics. Being able to print out the work, the student develops a wonderful writing portfolio. Their writing portfolios attest to the fact that they have mastered several writing styles throughout the year. Their work is also displayed on bulletin boards throughout the school for others to see and admire.
