My Students

Our Title I school is located in a very diverse neighborhood in Brooklyn. My students are 5 years-old. They are an enthusiastic and hard-working bunch. The spectrum of developmental levels in kindergarten is vast, and I am working hard to meet the needs of all my students. Many of my kindergarteners are growing up in low-income homes and do not have access to the learning materials at home needed to promote their academic growth.

Regardless of the challenges they face, my students are highly motivated and love coming to school.

They look forward to playing, making art, learning to read and all the other wonderful things the world of kindergarten has to offer.

My Project

As a kindergarten teacher, I strive to provide the best all-around education for my students. I am reaching out to Donors Choose for a variety of supplies such as pens, pencils, dry-erase markers, paint, play-doh, construction paper, and tape. All these supplies are essential for a successful year in Kindergarten. For example, my students use dry erase markers and slates to practice their penmanship, spelling, drawing, math, etc. They use flair pens, colored pencils and markers during writing time, as well as art time. Kindergarteners love to play with play-doh, but we also use play-doh during math class to create and explore geometric shapes and their properties.

I would love for my students to have access to these materials at the beginning of the year so they can draw, paint, write and create from the first day of Kindergarten.
