This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I'm so excited to be back in kindergarten. For many students in NYC, this is their first school experience. I want to have a classroom that these students will never forget!
My students are in a dual language classroom where they are instructed one day in English and the other day in Spanish.
They are children of mostly Spanish speaking homes and being exposed to English text and the English language for the first time in kindergarten. It is not only important to get them literate in the English language, but to also foster their native language as well. The goal is to have a generation of bilingual, biliterate, and bicultural students.
My Project
Most of kindergarten instruction takes place on the carpet. The carpet that we currently have has been used for numerous years and is very basic. This new rug correlates to our new curriculum and would allow them to learn even when sitting on their rug. The other materials are essential for staying organized and allowing students to have the supplies they need to be successful. We need places to hold our materials, pencils, and a whiteboard with storage to hold our new materials.
These materials will improve my classroom tremendously.
These new materials will be an asset to our classroom and a way to promote academic success. All of these materials will be used in the future! We thank you in advance for helping make our classroom kindergarten ready!
