Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students entered second grade with various reading skills and at different reading levels. I would love for all of my students to end this school year at or above grade level. My students all have a low socioeconomic status and most are ELL students. This center will be used daily!

More than half of the students in our school are English Language Learners.

93% of our student population qualifies for free or reduced lunch at our school. My students enter my classroom with limited resources from home, so I would love to create a safe learning environment for them.

My Project

By providing my students with a CD player, headphones, and a junction box for our listening center, I can provide them with engaging resources for increasing their literacy skills and reading levels. During centers our students will have the opportunity to visit our listening center and choose books on CD to read along with or to use the fluency CD's to build essential fluency skills!

I may not be able to control what happens at home, but I can create a safe and engaging learning environment for my students.

These materials will create a listening center for my students so they have a fun and engaging way to practice and learn how to read.
