Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are excited to learn. They are bright, curious, and hopeful. They want to grow as readers and writers. We are getting ready to start the new school year, so we need a lot of supplies for all of our learning activities.

Everyday, we will practice close reading and purposeful writing.

We will read texts and use pens, pencils, and highlighters to annotate and make meaning of what we are reading. We will use chart paper in our writing workshops to demonstrate our learning and work in groups to revise our writing. We will use our interactive notebooks to document our learning and show our growth as readers and writers.

I taught high school for many years, but this will be my first year teaching middle school. I decided to shift to teaching middle school because the middle school years are important transitional years that can be the turning point in my students' educational paths. I hope my students will have quality supplies and resources to start the school year, so we can be "Ready Readers and Writers".
