Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am a second-grade teacher in a rural part of Washington state. Our school has a diverse population with students who come from a variety of backgrounds and life experiences. Most of my students come from low income, bilingual, and farmworker homes who all qualify for a free and reduced lunch.

Our school and teachers work hard each and every day to provide all our students with the best and most equitable learning experience possible.

We cannot thank you enough for your generosity and support towards our classroom. We are very appreciative and thankful for your assistance and efforts to make sure each student has the opportunity to find success in second grade.

My Project

The leveled readers will help make a difference in the classroom by providing my students with an opportunity to have text available in the classroom they can read. By having the opportunity to practice reading at their level they can practice reading daily and gain the confidence they need to continue reading.

All these materials will help my students access and comprehend the text they read.

Most of my students are English Language Learners and having text at their level and picture cards will make reading comprehension more accessible to them. Having a variety of books to choose from, they will be able to choose more books that interest them to read.
