Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The students are 12th graders with autism at a Charter School designed for individuals on the spectrum. My class this year will again focus on functional academics to provide the tools to help them during post-school adult living. The students will learn how to function in life after school.

My students work exceptionally well with real world objects and manipulatives.

The students that use these manipulatives have shown an increase in their ability to understand and comprehend more functional tasks in all settings.

My Project

The materials in this project will help my students learn the necessary skills to enter either the work force or supported employment. The office supplies such as the highlighters and post-it notes will help them organize their daily tasks! The pencil sharpener and hole puncher will teach them employability skills. The building kit will help them learn fine motor skills to help in their vocational training. The puzzles and clay will be used to learn leisure skills to help them during break time. They will also aid in learning how to occupy their time throughout their day. All of these materials combined will help enhance their classroom experience to learn the necessary skills needed in life after school!
