My Students

I teach amazing group of third graders in a Title I school in a low-income neighborhood where their first language is not English. Most of the children live with their grandparents who can’t help them because they are not English speaking. But in spite of all of this, they are excited about and determined to learn.

My Project

I have a blended third grade class, which means part of the week they will be learning in school and part of the week they will be learning at home. Recently we were put on fully remote learning because the neighborhood next to us had high COVID numbers. When this happened I realized that the children really need to have materials that they can use at home all the time.

Therefore, to make it easier during lessons for the children as well as for me, I would like them to have whiteboards with erasers and transparent counters for a way to show me their thinking on the spot.

This way I can get a sense of what they need extra help with and what they know how to do, so that I can help them more easily at home, as well as in school.
