My Students

I am a 3rd-grade special education teacher to a group of 12 bubbly lovers of learning. Our school community is predominately African-American with over 75% economically disadvantaged children. Many of our students come from single-parent homes or are a part of the foster care system.

Currently, I'm honored to teach 12 students with unique abilities who are eager to learn.

Their classification of disability varies from speech impairment to Autism. They are all currently performing below grade level with most on a kindergarten level in reading. They enjoy learning new information but have trouble grasping new concepts and retaining information.

My Project

With your help, I would love to engage my students with the equipment needed to be successful with remote learning. My project is dedicated to helping my students with disabilities be engaged in their remote learning experience. They will be able to engage in online lessons by responding using their dry erase boards. The headphones provide an opportunity for them to engage in discussions with minimal distractions. We will use the post-its to create anchor charts to assist with building student knowledge. In these trying times, I want to make sure I can maximize learning, even at a distance.
