Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I coach and teach in a low-income/high poverty school district. My players are faced with challenges both on and off the field. Despite the many difficulties and challenges they face, we turn to athletics to provide hope. Correlating the athletics and meaningful life learning experiences provide my students with an opportunity to achieve some of their dreams. Our students come from a variety of different economic backgrounds with over 60% of our students receiving free and lunch. There are a multitude of teams and clubs that fit the needs of everyone.

My Project

This year our football team will be focusing on smoother practice and being able to identify the Offense from the Defensive players. By having these football practice jerseys we are able to hold the kids more accountable during practice and able to identify where they should be at all times. By being able to gift them with items to make their work easier and more special they will continue to work hard. Giving to our low-income students is an investment in their future. Without the help of generous donors, we can not afford even the most basic supplies. A little appreciation goes a long way to students and my students give so much.
