Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students live in a rural area of Fresno County in California. They are generally from a lower socioeconomic background and have not had the opportunity to have the experiences that others have had. Many of them are English language learners as well. It can be difficult to provide resources and other authentic experiences that can provide them with more knowledge and background information.

Many of my students have limited experiences outside of the home or classroom.

We try to provide as much as we can here at school, so our students can have the same type of advantages and experiences as their counterparts in more economically advantaged areas.

My Project

During the past school year, I sent most of my classroom manipulatives home with my students to support them with online learning. Our district has said that these materials are not to be returned to school, so I want to replace the materials in my classroom that my students will need. My district is replacing some of them, but I would like to add more manipulatives that my students will need.

These math manipulatives will help support my students make up for learning loss and will give them more opportunities for hands on learning.

My incoming students next year will need extra support and intervention to help them increase their math skills.
