Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

We are an inner city school in Los Angeles. Our students are from various backgrounds and socioeconomic statuses. Many of our students are English Language Learners (ELL) with roots in Latin America. The neighborhood is currently gentrifying, so we are developing a diverse population with many types of needs.

We are a STEM Magnet that caters to unique and motivated students in Los Angeles.

Our children love to learn and constantly challenge us to meet their unique needs and ignite their passion for learning.

The school is 100 years old and we have multiple generations of students who have attended the school. Although the neighborhood is changing, many of the families remain the same.

My Project

My students will begin their school year learning from home. We will come together and learn through a screen. Even though the students are excited about finally beginning the new school year, many are in need of school supplies and a quiet space to work.

Having a quiet place to work with the correct tools and supplies will help my students succeed this year.

I am requesting a lap desk for each child so he/she has a place to work. The lap desk are portable so students can reposition themselves if they encounter Zoom fatigue. The dry erase writing sleeves will be used for writing and math. During direct instruction, students will answer on their sleeves and flash the answer on their screen. Pencil boxes will be used to organize their supplies for writing. The drawstring backpacks will be used to keep their books and folders together and prevent them from being misplaced. We are thrilled to be starting school soon and appreciate your support in getting us prepared.
