This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
In preparing for the 2020-2021 school year, my 2nd-grade students will need to buckle-up and hold-tight because their journey toward becoming lifelong learners and leaders has, suddenly, been rerouted! Majority of my students are from families that are so economically challenged, that they are not readily provided the most basic school materials; and they receive free or reduced-price lunch. Still our school community, as a whole, remains laser-focused on serving as an extension to students, to ensure that they remain academically sound and safe.
My students are strong, resilient, and getting ready-for-the-world!
What my students need now, more than ever, is access to resources that will afford them the opportunity to build their confidence in such a manner that they will be ready to compete with their peers, and feel fully supported in their efforts to excel throughout their virtual learning experiences.
My Project
The teaching and learning process will be taking place from the home front this school year, until further notice.
The needed materials will help me to bring from-home learning to life for my differentiated learners!
We are in need of the following:
*AVR Document Camera (to create relevant visuals as references/ allows me to model what I'd like to see students replicate)
*Post-It Easel Pads AND *Post-It Self Stick Wall Pads (to use as a daily resource/students can create mini-charts in their notebooks, at leisure)
*Headphones (for students who are more auditory learners/helps students focus)
*Electric pencil sharpener (to maintain massive amounts of pencils needing to be pre-sharpened/safely replenished, as needed)
Nearly all students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
