This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I have a group of diverse, fourth and fifth grade students! Our classroom is a 12:1:1 Special education classroom. All of my students are special education students, as well as students to whom English is a new language. Additionally, I have two paraprofessionals (aides) in my classroom.

A typical day in our classroom consists mostly of small group and differentiated work.

This accesses each student's entry point and allows their education to be personalized to their needs. I want my students to be motivated to excel and love learning.

My Project

This iPad will definitely improve our classroom. We have a huge range of skills and abilities in our room. This means that we learn in many different ways. All of the students in our classroom would benefit from the incorporation of additional, up-to-date technology.

Every teacher wants his or her students to be motivated to

learn and grow everyday. Inside of the special education classroom, much of this motivation can come from an effective behavior management system. This iPad will allow both teachers and students to use the behavior management system, Class Dojo. The program allows students to receive points, both as individuals and as a whole class, for showing good behavior and work ethic. Points are then traded for "Dojo Dollars" which students are allowed to cash in for various prizes. When students are excited about earning prizes, they will be more motivated to learn and therefore grow.

Most importantly, I can't wait to see how excited my students would be if they had this new and amazing technology at their fingertips!
