Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I have a lovely bunch of students who have been through so many things in the past few years. They are still adjusting to being at school with others.

Using picture books to help them learn new reading and writing strategies and make deep connections to each other will help them be successful everyday.

I will use these picture books as mentor texts to teach specific reading and writing skills aligned to our fifth grade common core standards. I will also use these mentor texts to teach different social emotional skills that students can use to help them express emotion and accept each other.

Basing my lessons on these picture books will help students make deeper connections to their learning.
