Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My class is a fourth grade class that loves to read. They are interested in reading about Carlos Santana, Neil Armstrong, and Babe Ruth. They are also interested in technology, if I could combine the two, their reading scores will improve.

Our school is located in South Gate, CA.

It is part of the Los Angeles School District and has a high percent of poverty. 100% of our students qualify for free lunch. I would like to bring technology into the classroom so that they can experience e-books and stories on a tablet. They are fascinated in learning about heroes and people who have inspired growth, change, and empowerment.

My Project

The students will use the tablet to read e-books, research, and they will analyze, interpret and understand complex texts and learn to separate fact from opinion depending on the stories presented. They will have the experience to take advantage of touch gestures common on tablets, including dragging, pulling and tapping to interact with a story video.

I know that this project will make a difference in my students' lives because they will be able to learn about history and the heroes that made a difference.

The students will be able to use technology and have a hands-on experience with the tablet and the apps that are available.
