This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My first-grade scholars attend a high-poverty school in Wisconsin. I am extremely fortunate to be their teacher.
In our classroom, we participate in hands-on learning activities that use manipulatives and small group instruction.
In first grade, students are learning to read using phonics, basic math skills, and writing words and sentences about their experiences. Some students have special education needs in learning and behavior.
My Project
My young readers are learning the basics of reading. Some need high-interest books to get started.
Eric Litwin and James Dean's books about Pete the Cat are so engaging students do not want to put them down.
The illustrations show Pete getting involved in activities at the beach, in school, and in his neighborhood. The students will be so excited to hear the books being shared on-line for now and in-person when we return to school.
Without your help, we would not have these fun, new books in our classroom library to help our class learn to read with Pete!
