My Students

There's nothing quite like picking up the pen and correcting the teacher! My first graders love our daily editing and math talks, especially if they can prove me wrong.

My students are a super sweet bunch of active first graders.

Although in first grade, most of them are already behind academically. We love being read to, but still get nervous about producing our own work. To meet their needs, we try and do as many hands on activities as we can to get them up and moving.

My Project

Our easel will be the central focus of many lessons. The easel is low enough to the ground that the students will be able to walk up to it and contribute to the lesson with their own ideas. Because it's separate from the main whiteboard, we'll be able to leave their work up to be a point of reference throughout the day or week.

Right now, my little classroom has very little wall space for us to hang up posters.

If I use the whiteboard to write, it's too high for most of my little ones to reach so that they can write and contribute. Having an easel will help create our classroom meeting area as a collaborative learning space.
