My Students

There are good and bad things about technology, but it is here to stay! I want to show my students that they can use technology to help them learn.

I am a Reading Specialist in a very diverse and unique community.

Our students come from all over the world and there are 34 different languages and dialects spoken across our school district. I work with struggling readers, many of whom are also English Language Learners.

My Project

Having an iPad to use with my students will help me to engage students in a new way. The students I work with find reading to be very challenging and have already had negative experiences with reading. Through the use of reading apps and online books, I will be able to show my students that reading can also be fun! An added bonus is that I will be able to use the iPad to connect to an online data collection and management site that is part of an intervention program used in my district. This will allow me to collect, store and share students' reading progress with parents, as well as cut down on the amount of paper needed for reading assessments!

Technology is already a huge part of my students' lives.

By donating to this project, you will help me connect technology and reading for my students. This will help show them that reading does not have to be boring!
