Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach students from a variety of different backgrounds and different cultures. They struggle with reading on their grade level or above. The program that they are in is called "Language Live" which is a comprehensive literacy intervention for struggling students in grades 5-12 with a blended approach.

My Project

Several of the books I chose will allow the students to focus on black and brown environments as well as culturally diverse students. Diary of a Wimpy Kid and Dog Man are in Spanish. Many of my students are reading below their grade level. These books will encourage and enhance their ability to read and increase comprehension skills.

Many of my students are from diverse backgrounds and have been out of school for over a year, it has hindered their reading skills.

Several of them fell behind in their daily reading. These books will allow them to increase their reading skills and excel in fluency.
