This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Hello! We are a fourth-grade ICT class made up of 23 unique students. Our school is located in the South Bronx. My students know that they can always count on school being that constant in their lives.

We are super eager learners.

They are very eager readers, writers, mathematicians, scientists, and historians. They rip the library apart on a daily basis as they try and locate their next reading adventure. They are always excited to get their ideas down on paper regardless if its writing, social studies, or math. There are future scientists in this classroom who will be very successful dealing with electricity or out in the wilderness identify different animal adaptations. What can I say? We are great!

My Project

The materials that I am wishing to be funded will go directly into my classroom library. My students need to have books at their current reading levels in order to take their imaginations to new places. Some of the book titles are: Amelia Bedelia I Can Read Box, Pete the Cat's Super Cool Reading Collection, Henry and Mudge Collector's Set along with a few other similar books. A majority of my students are reading at the levels of the books being purchased. They will be able to pick books that they are excited to read. When kids are excited to read, they will want to read more frequently. As time goes on, we will have more success in our reading stamina and in the ability to read in general.

The magnetic letters will be used during guided reading and word work activities.

Students will be able to build words that they are working on to increase their sight word recognition and learning different spelling patterns.
