My Project

Once students reach 3rd grade they can predict that there will be few opportunities for hands-on activities to practice skills in reading and math. They become so disengaged in their learning after receiving worksheet after worksheet and my goal moving back into third grade is not to just ignite their love of learning but to do so in a meaningful way to help them continue their learning success. At this age, students begin reading to learn instead of learning to read. This is why so many of the items on my list lend themselves to taking what they read and applying the new knowledge to the world through STEM, math, and more. Many of my kindergarten resources will not be useful in the grade and I have little to no resources for this age. Finally, writing becomes increasingly more difficult at this age as the focus on grammar and the writing process take a deeper dive. The hands-on games and activities listed will give students a chance to practice these skills in isolation to give them confidence when it comes to connecting them to their writing pieces.

Help me provide ways to allow my students to begin reading to learn as well as having the opportunity to manipulate and produce evidence of this daily!
