This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

"What are we learning today?" this is what I hear from my students every day as I see them around the school before its time for my gifted class. This past school year, I started the gifted program at my school focusing on science with grades two thru five. I was very limited by space, in that I borrowed a classroom from another teacher for an hour a day to meet with my students. They have absolutely loved every moment of the class.

Every time we meet, we are able to dive in deep thru hands-on learning activities to explore the scientific concepts, social studies topics and all their extra questions.

They have truly become inspired learners. This coming year, I'm fortunate enough to have expanded the program to include more students and more time with them. Now, we are in need of additional materials to make the most out of our learning experiences. My students love to read and I would love to provide them with interesting books covering all the topics we discuss in class.

My Project

With the books that I am requesting for my students, I will be able to enrich and enhance my students learning experiences thru exposure to biographies, informational text and literature. These resources will help bring the topics we discuss to life during our classes. In addition, my students will be able to select books during independent reading times that stimulate their interests as well as use them during whole group lessons to enhance their experiences. They love to learn and are very inquisitive. This will help motivate them thru their interests and spark their curiosity to continue learning and become life long learners.
