My Students

My first-grade students are excited learners that are full of questions. At this lower elementary level, there are so many new experiences to be had and it is important to keep my students engaged and eager to learn more.

Inspiring my students with engaging resources encourages them to become lifelong learners.

Our school is a founding school of the Great Kindness Challenge. We focus not only on high expectations academically, but also emphasize being good citizens. Our school has a strong sense of community where we all work together and enjoy sharing our ideas and experiences with each other.

My Project

Both Scholastic News magazine articles and Science Spin articles engage my students and inspired them to ask questions. Each article directly relates to our standards for first grade and provides students with a new resource to practice learning from.

These resources help students further develop their reading skills while also learning science and social studies concepts.

We will use these resources to practice how to read to learn by building our comprehension and looking for key details.

In the Digital Age, it is important to expose students to a variety of text types and tangible resources such as the magazines and articles that Scholastic provides. The subscriptions will also grant us access to online resources in the classroom with a variety of activities, videos, and games to further keep students excited to learn.
